Transparency forms the ground to grow trust. This is entailed in the FHIN governance, consisting of following principles.
The FHIN partners are non-profit entities that have direct healthcare provisioning in their daily operational activity or are secondary non-profit entities that are directly processing data from such healthcare provisioning entities.
Data always stays 100% within each data partner's control. Not a single bit of data has to leave the data partner's control.
The FHIN Steering Committee (FSC) consists of 2 representatives of each partner: a healthcare professional and a operations professional. The meets 4 times per year.
Everybody (academia, pharmaceuticals, researchers, med tech companies...) with a data-driven project in mind can file a project-proposal on the FHIN website (See: Submit a project proposal).
In line with the data control principle, data partners have the right to accept or decline participation to each submitted project-proposal. A declining partner can use the project results. However, a declining partner cannot claim any credit on the project work such as being a co-author on publications, claiming intellectual property and so on.
The FHIN consortium started on the July 1 2023. All prior art of the founding partners remains their intellectual property. All foreground intellectual property from the start date onwards is shared property.
The FHIN consortium works according basic equallity principles.
